Kolbe is focused on supporting architects. Prior to BIM we have always had a wealth of information available to architects including 2D architectural details and drawings in both print and electronic formats. As BIM developed and architects began to see the benefits of software programs such as Revit. Kolbe took notice and asked what can we do to support this new way of designing and building. Out of that came our initiative to develop SketchUp and Revit models of our Ultra Series windows and doors. The Revit models are linked to specifications, 2D details, performance and so much more to support the Information portion of BIM. Visual communications are a more effective way to show the detail and options that Kolbe has to offer.
How BIM has affected our business

• We see BIM not only as a modeling and drafting tool but a means of effectively communicating how we want the public to view Kolbe• With BIM you not only can design the exact product but add multitude of data and information to the model. What other way can you deliver that amount of detail or information into product
• We see BIM as a comprehensive way for design and building professionals to express their overall objective in the most effective way possible

Pros and Cons of BIM development
• With any software there are limitations• The capabilities are there but the performance is not
• BIM is the only way that you can express you design intent effectively
• There is always so much data that never gets communicated effectively and promptly to an Architect and with BIM you have that option
• With BIM you can design, spec, and build with Kolbe. No other process will allow you to do this with so much ease
