What type of learning curve will it take for builders to trust information in BIM models?
Featured in:
As an architect working within a construction company, I see that our estimators have a certain amount of hesitancy in trusting that the BIM model has the correct information and quantities they need. Are you finding similar circumstances with other builders and estimators? What type of learning curve do you suspect it will take for the builders to trust the information in the models?
Mark Heise, Alberici Constructors
Mark Mergenschroer, BIM Development Coordinator, TME, Inc.: Yes, we even see this with our engineers. It is just going to take time for people to get used to and trust the BIM process. One thing that will never go away is the need for common sense to be applied to the BIM technology. Remember these BIM models are only as smart as we make them.
