Would a contractor be expected to create a subsystem from scratch?

Question:

So if the contractor is to create subsystems, would they be given a base model of the building to place the subsystem in or would they be expected to create from scratch?

Answer:

Mark Mergenschroer, BIM Development Coordinator, TME, Inc.: They should be given the building, in my opinion. This is no different that a CAD background.
