...is one of the more enjoyable parts of working in the Customer Care department here at RCD. Now I don't have any kids (that I know of..*crickets chirping*) but I can imagine there are a smorgasbord of clichés that could be used to draw parallels between parenthood and the maturation of a Reed Connect user. No crying or soiled undergarments here though…I will leave that one alone.
But in all seriousness it is a pleasure to watch a new user, perhaps unfamiliar with what a specification or a GC is, much less how to successfully navigate the site, blossom into a well-oiled, project wielding machine. I was talking to such a user today and it reminded me of when I first was trained on the program by one of our veteran trainers, Chris Brundle. A great guy and a greater trainer (no I'm not just saying that because he sits right down the hall), but I had no clue what he was talking about. None. Zero. Zilch. Nada. He could've been talking about buying and selling soybean futures for all I knew. In my defense, being one of the younger employees in Customer Care I don't have a long, established construction background, but then again neither do many of the users on the site. I just know that in a few months time, that young user I talked to, will be a full-grown Connect user. And I couldn't be prouder.
