Unfortunately, industrial construction is dead at the moment, at least from my perspective in the welding and metalworking/piping field.  Other than repair jobs, there don’t seem to be many good paying jobs coming up.  Looking at it as a skilled trade employee, the salary for the jobs that i’ve seen are generally less than what they were a few years ago.  This doesn’t exactly bode well for anyone in the heavy construction trades.  If you’re a welder, you may be better off buying a Lincoln SA-200 welder and hitting the road on your own.  Let’s hope the economy turns around soon.
