• New York State’s codes are mandatory minimum requirements throughtout the state, except in New York City. Local jurisdictions may amend the code with more stringent provisions only with the approval of the NY State Fire Prevention & Building Code Council.

New York State will adopt the 2006 I-codes (for the IBC, IFC, IRC, IPC, IMC, IFGC, IPMC, IEBC and the 2009 IECC) on December 14, 2010.
