Product Description
Krystol Concrete Waterproofing System (Krystol) incorporates advanced crystalline waterproofing technology to transform porous concrete into a permanent water-resistant barrier.
Product Description, Applications
KRYSTOL® CONCRETE WATERPROOFING SYSTEM™
Krystol Concrete Waterproofing System (Krystol) incorporates advanced crystalline waterproofing technology to transform porous concrete into a permanent water-resistant barrier. This intelligent, self-sealing system is used in place of externally applied surface membranes to protect against moisture transmission, chemical attack and reinforcing steel corrosion. When combined with water and concrete, Krystol activates a crystallization process, filling pores and voids within the concrete and permanently blocking pathways of water and waterborne contaminants. If cracks form, incoming water reactivates the process to provide continuous “self-sealing” crack protection.
Product Line
- Krystol Internal Membrane™ (KIM®) - A chloride-free, dry powder admixture that promotes the growth of insoluble hydration crystals within concrete.
- Krystol Broadcast™ - A waterproofing dry shake compound for concrete flatwork.
- Krystol Waterstop System™ - Includes Krystol Waterstop Grout and Krystol Waterstop Treatment to help waterproof non-moving construction joints.
- Krystol Concrete Crack Repair and Surface Treatment™ - Includes Krystol Plug™, a fast-setting grout, Krystol T1™ and T2™, waterproofing dry pack and slurry compounds and Krystol Baricote™.
Applications
The Krystol Concrete Waterproofing System is suited for precast, shotcrete and cast-in-place applications, including parking structures, potable water and wastewater containment, bridges, tunnels, reservoirs, pools, basements and foundations.
Features, Advantages
- Becomes a permanent part of the concrete, impervious to physical damage or deterioration.
- Helps prevent freeze/thaw damage and corrosion of reinforcing steel.
- Reactivates in the presence of moisture, sealing cracks even years after installation.
- Provides excellent resistance to waterborne chemicals and is safe for potable water.
- Effective against hydrostatic pressure up to 140 m (460 ft).
- Reduces shrinkage and cracking and can contribute to increased compressive strength.
Properties, Performance
- Approved for concrete drinking water containment by NSF International, Health and Welfare Canada, US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), US Department of Agriculture and the Bureau de Normalisation du Québec.
- Approved by the Province of British Columbia, Ministry of Municipal Affairs, Building Standards Branch.
- Certified by the International Code Council - Evaluation Service (ICC-ES).
- Approved by the Washington State Department of Transportation, USA (WSDOT).
- Certified by the Los Angeles Department of Building and Safety (LARR).
- Certified by the British Board of Agrément (BBA) and European Community (CE).
