One major drawback to standard uninterruptible power systems (UPS) is the reliance on batteries; a large battery system is not space-efficient or cost effective to cover brief power disturbances. The Liebert FS™ Flywheel DC Energy Storage System provides DC ride-through power and voltage stabilization during AC power abnormalities when used in conjuction with a UPS system. The flywheel technology enables a single unit to provide up to 190 kW of instant ride-through power for up to 10 seconds (or other combinations of power and time) which can efficiently cover most electrical disturbances. Additionally, The Liebert FS can be used as the sole back-up DC energy storage device or in conjunction with conventional battery strings and /or generator sets, preserving power capacity for longer outages, and can provide ride-through power until back-up generators come on line.

Designed to interface with larger UPS systems, from 20 kVA to over 1 MVA, the Liebert FS works well with the Liebert Npower, Series 300, Hipulse, Series 610 and Series 600 units. The Liebert FS can be operated in parallel for applications over 225 kVA.
