The Construction Specifications Institute (CSI)

The Construction Specifications Institute was created in 1948 by specification writers seeking to improve the quality of construction specifications for the post-war construction boom. The group quickly grew to include private sector specification writers, design professionals, constructors and material suppliers who work to effectively communicate visions, solutions and techniques.

Today’s CSI has more than 140 chapters and more than 13,000 volunteer professionals dedicated to improving the communication of construction information, with such industry-recognized programs, certifications, standards and formats as MasterFormat and UniFormat.
