How do I change the Labor Type from Standard Union to Repair and Remodel?

In the header bar above your costbook information there are two drop down options for CostBook & Labor type which you can change.

Hey there!

I changed the header bar to correctly reflect the labor type to “repair and remodel” however, there are several line items that I had already selected for labor type “standard union”. It is these line items that have already been added to my estimate that I would like to change them all to “repair and remodel”.

Hope that makes sense…

Right above your costlist, you should be able to click on Estimate Action>Change Cost Data which will bring you to your estimate setup where you can change your Labor Type.
Please note that if you have a mix of Union/Open Shop you may not be able to change it. This is usually set up before starting an estimate.

You answered my question in your last sentence. Is there a reason why a line itam can’t be changed once a labor type has been selected?

I realized midway through the estimate that the change was needed and would hate to go back and redo the estimation for consistency.

To clarify, lets say I have 10 items on my estimate, of which 2 lines are USER lines, and the other 8 items are all using STANDARD union wages.
Lets say the selected costbook is the Facilities R&R;, which only allows R&R;wages or OpenShop wages. And lets say the selected wage rate is R&R;. If I go to the Estimate Action dropdown list and choose “Change Cost Data”, then I can change the wages from R&R;to OpenShop, click Next, and now the 8 items are at OpenShop wages, and the 2 user items are unchanged.

However, if there was a mix of wage types on my estimate, then I could NOT use the ChangeCostData option to change the wage rates. I would first need to remove some lines so that I only have USER lines and lines that alll have the same wage rate. THEN I would be able to use the ChangeCostData option to change the wage rate.

In my example, since the selected wage rate in the viewer was R&R;, then I was unable to change the STANDARD lines to R&R;directly using the ChangeCostData option, because that would not really be a “change” in the selected wage rate. I first had to change them to OPEN. After they were changed to OPEN, now the selected wage rate of the viewer is changed to OPEN. Now, when I go back to the ChangeCostData option, I can now change the wage to R&R;. After making this change and returning to the viewer my selected wage is now R&R;, and the 8 lines are now using R&R;and the 2 USER lines are unchanged.

Also, the ability to post images has been turned off cause these forums get attacked by spammers alot. If you had something you wanted to show us the best way is to email to techsupport
