Robots could help with Construction?

Posted by Samantha Vartiamaki

An article was recently written by Korky Koroluk in regards to robots being developed to work on and help with construction projects.

On one side, you have the idea that these newly developed robots (especially the ones that attach to the contractor) could help increase productivity and decrease the health hazards of working in construction. However, one must ask, won't these backpacks start to get heavy, hurt the workers back in any way?

As well, you have the other "side of the coin." They are already talking about developing a robot that can work on it's own on the job site. Although this will bring down building costs, it will not help the workers in any way. Every time robots start being brought into the business, that means more people out of work.

What are your opinions on this topic? Are "construction robots" good for the industry? Bad for the industry? What benefits and downfalls do you forsee?
