QTO File Type & File Export Options

Hi folks. I am a software developer that's looking for some insight into your version of QTO's export capabilities, and native file format. I have a client/set of clients that use this QTO instead of Autodesk's, and they've asked me to reach into the API for greater functionality. Is there a location where I can find out more about the nature of the Excel File and the native QTO file? I'm looking for a data standard, as Excel is not a standard. Any help would be appreciated.
