What techniques do you use to influence Architects?

Over the years, I've heard lots of ways that Manufacturers use to influence Architects. some MFRs mail annual literature, some conduct brown bag lunches, and other methods. Some MFRs don't try to influence Architects to specify their product at all...they rely on their competitors Spec selling teams to get a like product specified and compete on either price or exploit another product specific advantage. My question is, what works for you?
