While the economy and the building world have been in the toilet for the past 12 months, the follow are things that have made me feel great about 2009 and the potential for 2010.

1. Federal Government requires all government buildings LEED certified - in March of this year the White House announced that the government will require all federal buildings to adhere to the USGBC's LEED standard. The initiative will mean actual accountability and, we hope, measurements for building performance. It should mean less of our tax dollars being used in inefficient buildings.
