Reed Construction Data is not itself for sale. The worldwide parent division of which we are a part, Reed Business (minus exhibitions) is for sale. To put that in context, this represents one of the largest business to business media groups in the world, with over 400 brands operating in every continent. In 2007, Reed Business Information had revenues in excess of $1.7 billion and a workforce of over 8,000 people.

The decision for the sale was based on a desire by the parent company to focus on other elements of its business. In announcing the sale, Reed Elsevier chief executive Crispin Davis commented that “RBI is a well-managed high-quality business …”

Reed Business is possibly the most far reaching global media player in the construction industry with websites, magazines, directories and data businesses in the USA, Canada, United Kingdom, Australia and Scandinavia. In the US alone, we have over 100,000 customers for our data products and in 2007, and going forward into 2008, our commitment to those customers is demonstrated as we execute on a progressive program of investments and product and service upgrades, none of which are changed or affected in any way by the decision to sell our parent organization.

“I remain fully committed to Reed Construction Data through and beyond any sale of Reed Business Publishing” says RCD’s CEO Iain Melville. “I am personally determined that we will not allow this news to distract us from our goals and our purpose. It is ‘business as usual’ at RCD, our plans are unaffected and we are excited about a successful year ahead.”
