Hospital, Nursing Home and Apartment Building Construction Costs

December 22, 2008 - Alex Carrick
Abstract:

Among four type-of-structure categories monitored by RSMeans, a “typical” two- to three-story hospital had the largest year-over-year increase in construction costs in November 2008 (+4.9% on average for 25 major centers). Next in line came a four- to eight-story hospital (+4.2%), followed by a nursing home (+3.8%). As for dollar-per-square-foot cost of construction, a two- to three-story hospital is most expensive. Among the 25 cities, New Orleans was the leader in percentage cost increases, year over year.

Oh my, Building Construction costs almost 5% ?

No surprise NYC is the costliest city, but the construction costs are crazy (from what I can see. any way to get those graphs in better quality?)

You don’t really want to know about Africa Israel’s construction in NYC, I only heard so far about the Israel apartments and the “Times Building” (at One Times Square) is now owned by Africa - I’m not surprised that it’s the highest-cost city.
