Orders and shipments for construction materials and supplies tumbled steeply in November according to the latest Census Bureau data released last week. This means that materials buyers should expect a prolonged period of weaker pricing, coming right at the end of the sharp October-December price cuts that resulted from the bursting of the worldwide commodity bubble, says Reed Construction Data chief economist Jim Haughey.
