Reed Construction Data and CADworks partner to deliver high-quality BIM content to AEC industry

Reed Construction Data (www.reedconstructiondata.com) and CADworks (www.cadworks.net), two leading, Autodesk Revit® content-solutions providers, today announced an agreement to partner in order to extend the delivery of high-quality content to building product manufacturers (BPM’s) and help accelerate the adoption of building information modeling (BIM).

The partnership will allow the Reed Construction Data national sales force to identify BIM opportunities for MEP manufacturers.  CADworks will be Reed’s preferred provider for MEP content creation.

“CADworks expertise in MEP and commitment to high quality is a perfect complement to the SmartBIM offerings of Reed Construction Data.  We are excited to work together to set standards of excellence for BIM content,” said Candice Dobra, Director of BIM solutions, Reed Construction Data.  “The combined industry knowledge and commitment to BIM of both Reed Construction Data and CADworks gives manufacturers the assurance they need to proceed with their BIM initiatives.”

Despite a recent increase in the adoption rate of BIM, there are still several obstacles to overcome before BIM is integrated on a widespread level.  According to many AEC industry sources, the availability of quality BIM content is one of the leading barriers.  In a study by RSMeans Business Solutions, firms rated accuracy (objects represent a real product), level of detail and time to develop an object as the most important factors for use of a BIM object.

“Reed’s strong background in architectural design combined with CADworks’ expertise in MEP delivers a comprehensive solution for BPM’s in need of premium BIM content,” said Christopher Di Iorio, CEO, CADworks.

Reed’s SmartBIM Objects and CADworks’ Intelligent Content are designed fully parametric, accurately represent the real-world characteristics of products, and meet the highest-quality standards in the industry.  These “intelligent objects” are loaded with the critical data Revit users need to design a detailed and coordinated BIM model.
