Winner of the Gordon B. Wright Award
for feature photography.
Conway’s winning photo entitled “Pouring Concrete” received a perfect score from the panel of judges based on journalistic story telling, artistic quality, technical quality and significance of subject. The photo appeared as the cover shot for the September 2008 Concrete and Masonry Feature section in Daily Commercial News (www.dailycommercialnews.com), a daily tabloid newspaper serving the Canadian Construction industry.
Gilbert, a staff writer for the Journal of Commerce (www.journalofcommerce.com), received an honorable mention for his photo “Leaning Tower of Rebar,” which scored a 90 out of 100 points from the judges. The photo ran on the front page of the Journal of Commerce on April 16, and also made the front page of Daily Commercial News on April 17.
