Project Description

The Work of this Project consists of architectural, HVAC, electrical, fire protection (sprinklers), and I.T work to renovate the existing Third Floor Psychology Laboratory space. The renovated area is a total of approximately 910 ft2 each. The renovated space will include room 3302 (Lab 'A'), room 3310 (Lab 'B') as well as portions of existing corridor 3008A, and Kitchen 3008M. The work comprises of the following in general: Selective demolition of existing concrete block, gypsum board and plaster, redundant walls, ceiling, doors and lab equipment as required for the new configuration and for new mechanical and electrical work. Salvage door hardware, fire extinguishers, clocks, chalk boards and other items as identified on the drawing; Asbestos abatement of existing floor tiles and mechanical fittings; Provide new partitions, sheet vinyl flooring and transition strips; suspended acoustical ceilings and unit-strut ceiling frame within Lab 'B'; Patch and prep all existing surfaces to remain and provide new paint finishes; Includes acoustic tile ceilings, plaster wall finish, concrete beams and masonry walls and columns; Patch and infill deleted existing doorways and relocate existing door and frame; Provide room signage; Finish carpentry and miscellaneous hardware; Mechanical ventilation, rebalancing, and sprinklers; Electrical lighting, power and IT distribution and coordination with UBC's IT Department.
