Arena development occurs on 2 levels, as does the library/lobby section. The gymnasium has 2 levels over the change room section. Key features of the project include a NHL sized (85' x 200') ice rink, running track on upper arena level approx 1/8 m long, community library, child mind area, fitness studio and regulation-sized gym. During the planning and design stage this facility will be assessed for suitability as a LEED or LEED shadow project. The overriding design objective is that it will be environmentally sensitive, economically sustainable and display planning leadership for subsequent public and private projects. Currently the project is the Design Development Phase, with revisions being made to the concept plan to improve the functionality of the facility. |
