Dampproofing - 07 11 00
Damproofing materials resist moisture pentration through foundation walls and similar surfaces subject to high humidity, dampness, or direct water contact but not subject to hydraulic pressures. Dampproofing usually involves applying one or two layers of a tar based coating to the foundation wall up to the finished grade elevation. Although damp proofing materials do not typically bridge cracks in concrete that may occur during the life of a building, damp proofing has a lower initial cost than waterproofing and is effective at stopping water vapor transmission....

Tips on Estimating Dampproofing Costs from RSMeans
Be sure of the job specifications before pricing this subdivision - the difference in cost between waterproofing and dampproofing can be great. Waterproofing will hold back standing water while dampproofing prevents the transmission of water vapor. Also included in this section are vapor retarding membranes. |
