A door is a moveable member used to close the opening in a wall. Doors are either hinged or pivoting and can be made of metal, wood, plastic or composite material.

A frame is the surrounding assembly into which a door fits and can include framing for sidelites, transoms or other openings. Door frames consist of two uprights, jambs and a header. They are typically made of formed or extruded metal.
