Structural framing refers to the construction and assembly of the structural components of a building, including permanent bracing, beams, columns, trusses, girders and related fastenings, so that they support and transmit applied loads safely to the ground. Structural metal framing is virtually always composed of some form of steel, although aluminum may be used in certain applications.
