Acoustical ceilings reduce noise transmission by absorbing, rather than reflecting, sound. Available for both residential and commercial applications, modern acoustical ceilings are made from a combination of naturally occurring mineral fibers that are heated and molded into panels, planks or square tiles for installation in drop ceiling and suspended ceiling grids. Some manufacturers offer large format tiles for use when a monolithic appearance is desired. Tongue and groove designs are also available.
