In order to help prevent sound transmission through a structure, an acoustical underlayment is often the best solution. "Underlayment" in this application refers to a wood-based construction panel covered with a material having sound absorbing properties. Sandwiched between the inner and outer face of a structure, this acoustical underlayment panel impedes noise transmission by absorbing sound at the surface, providing an effective means of controlling reverberation time and reflected sound.
Acoustical underlayments are suitable for a virtually any application in which controlling noise is a concern, including churches, kennels, offices, gun ranges, factories, conference rooms and broadcast studios.
