Chalkboards are reusable writing surfaces used for the temporary display of drawings or text which get their name from the chalk that is commonly used to mark upon them. Originally made of slate, the highest quality chalkboards are now made of porcelain enameled steel.
There are several varieties of chalkboards including fixed, portable and operable chalkboards. Commonly used in teaching, chalkboards have also found a niche in cafés and specialty markets.
