Sound attenuators, or duct silencers, are acoustic chambers consisting of a rectangular or cylindrical device with a complex system of baffles mounted inside. They are designed to prevent and reduce the transmission of sound through ducts and are usually installed into a duct run near the central supply unit in both return and supply ducts.
