Furnaces - 23 54 00
Furnaces are self-contained and self-enclosed heating units in which air is the medium used to convey heat. Cool air enters a unit and is heated as it comes into contact with hot metal surfaces. Furnaces are typically designed to supply heat through a system of ductwork and are fueled either by electricity, oil or gas.
Furnaces consist of the following basic components:
1) a cabinet or casing
2) a combustion sytem including burners and controls
3) a heat exchanger

Tips on Estimating Furnace Costs from RSMeans
Review all construction documentation before proceeding with the estimate for HVAC. It is not unusual to find items on the plans, but not in the specifications; or they may be in the specifications but not on the drawings. Also check any and all communications; the owner may have requested a change or expressed a concern or a specific need, and not have had it included in your drawings or specifications. |
