Also known as roll carpeting or broadloom carpeting, sheet carpeting has numerous advantages that make it an attractive choice for both residential and commercial applications. Tufted or woven to widths of 6 - 18 ft (1.8 to 5.5 m), sheet carpeting is a great option for hiding an unfinished or damaged floor surface. The large size requires fewer installation seams, which improves appearance and allows less dust to accumulate. In addition, sheet carpeting improves insulation, warmth and sound absorption, and can make a space appear larger. And, because it is nailed or tacked to the floor, the carpet doesn`t move, which helps to improve safety.
On the downside, sheet carpeting must be professionally installed and requires regular maintenance. Also, because it is semi-permanently affixed, it cannot be rotated to minimize wear and can be costly to remove and replace.
