About This Book:
Did you know that many insurance companies no longer cover mold-related damage? Or that materials like conventional drywall and particleboard, in conjunction with poor circulation, are havens for destructive mold? Or that even small water leaks, if left untreated, can result in major mold damage, costly to your health and wallet?

When moisture combines with dust or mold-friendly materials, mold can start growing (and spreading) in as little as 24 hours. The Homeowner’s Guide to Mold is a comprehensive 160 page guide to help you recognize, remove, and prevent mold in your home.

With this book you will learn:

  • How to inspect your house for mold
  • Best practices for mold removal, including when to hire a mold removal contractor, and how to know if you need one
  • Standard procedures and costs for mold testing and remediation, including repair work costs from RSMeans
  • Mold-preventative construction techniques and mold-resistant materials to use if you are constructing or remodeling your home
  • How to deal with insurance companies when you are thinking of submitting a mold damages claim
