Editing SmartBIM Objects
Reed has developed a Library of Revit Objects and Families (SmartBIM Library) to save architects time by providing high quality, parametric Objects; generic and manufacturer specific. Many of the SmartBIM Objects have multiple size options, as a guide, especially with manufacturer specific Objects. The question is that many of the Objects indicate that they are available in different sizes. How does the A/E change the size of the object that is in the file?
Answer/Tip: The SmartBIM Object will provide pre-set sizes that the manufacturer recommends as a guide. The architect can “drag and drop” the SmartBIM Object into the project and, once inside of Revit, he can then “Edit Element” to whatever size that is desired. The “re-sized” Object can be saved to a file folder. It can then be re-used by uploading the file, using the Family Content Publisher (FCP), within the SmartBIM Library, creating a new Object type. The architect cannot change SmartBIM Objects within the SmartBIM Library but once it is inside of Revit, it may be changed. In other words, the Reed SmartBIM Objects, within the SmartBIM Library, are “fixed” to manufacturer requested sizes, but parametric and editable within the scope of a Revit Architecture BIM design project.
