Project Based Cross Searches

Learn how to get the most from Reed Construction Data products & services

Cross Searches allow you to identify Data from two Sources. Compared with a straight Company Search or a straight Project Search, a Cross Search allows you to find Data that combines these two straight Searches.

In a Project Based Cross Search you start your Search on the Project side, make your selection(s) for the parameters of the Projects, then click on the Company Tab to identify the criteria of the Company with which you are interested.

The Goal of a Project Based Cross Search is to provide you with Projects that are being worked upon by a particular Company or a Classification of Company.

Let’s consider an example. Say you want to find a list of Medical Projects, in Planning (where an Architect has been named) that have been updated in the last month, that are being worked upon by Architects based in Alabama.

Put your cursor over Project and from the Drop Down list select Search Projects.

This will open up the Project Search Screen. Note that in the Screen Shot below, the Project is highlighted in the row of Tabs across the top left (see Red circled item).

  • Select Medical Projects from the Categories List
  • From Planning in the Phase list select Masterplanning through Working Drawings
  • Fill in or select the appropriate dates from the Update Date fields

Now, we are trying to find Architects who are working on these Projects. Do NOT click on Search at this point, rather, click on the Company tab beside the highlighted Project tab. This will take us to the Company Search Screen from where we can select the Architects from the Classification field.

Note that now the Company tab is highlighted (see Red circled item).

Having made our Selections, now we click on Search (either at the top or bottom).

Our List View results will be Projects. Within the Project Details of these resultant projects will be Architectural Firms based in Alabama.

When would you want to do a Project Cross Search?

  • In general, you want to find Projects that are being worked on by a particular Company or Classification of company.
  • Specifically you want to find Projects in a specific area that are being worked on by a known Company or Classification of Company in a given area. For example, you want to find projects in GA that are being worked on by Architects based in Atlanta.
  • You want to find specific types of Projects being worked on by a known Company or Classification of Company. For example, you want to find Medical projects in GA that are being worked on by ABC Architectural Firm.
