Setting Up a Search

When you are setting up the parameters for a Search, an important fundamental function in Reed Connect is the ability to make multiple selections within a field.

Example 1 Selections Together

Say you want to select Masterplanning through Working Drawings in the Planning Phase. You want all items between, including Masterplanning and Working Drawings.

Just click on Masterplanning and drag your cursor down through Working Drawings.

These are contiguous selections.

Example 2 Using The Control Key

In the Categories field you want to select specific but not all Categories. Hold your Ctrl key down and click on the specific Categories that you want.

For example, say you want Offices under Commercial and Hotels/Motels under Retail.

Click on Offices then, holding your Ctrl key down, scroll down to Retail and click on Hotels/Motels. Both Offices and Hotels/Motels will be selected (highlighted).

Or, another example would be you want States in the Southeast. Click on AL and holding your Ctrl key down, click on FL, GA, NC, SC and TN.

These are non-contiguous selections and you must hold the Ctrl key down to ensure that you get all of the specific selections you want to include.

Example 3 Removing a Selection

You have made your selections, but you want to remove one. Hold your Ctrl key down and click on the selection you want to remove. You will see that this ‘un-highlights’ the previously selected item.
