Using Date Ranges

Learn how to get the most from Reed Construction Data products & services

Using the Date Ranges selection in you Searches is really effective for Saved Searches and especially Hotlist Searches. By using a Date Range you never need to worry about changing a specific date entered because your Search is always current.

In the Update Date Range you have the choices

  • Last 24 hours

  • Last 7 days

  • Last 30 days

  • Last 60 days

  • Last 3 months

  • Last 6 months

  • Last 12 months

Connect Date Ranges

In the Bid Date Range you have the choices

  • Next 7 days

  • Next 14 days

  • Next 30 days

Connect Date Ranges

The difference between the Date Ranges and the Date Fields allows you to put together a Saved Search with a starting date being the date you run the Search.

Say for example you want to put together a Planning search for Hospitals in Georgia.

  • select the sub categories of Planning that you want

  • select Georgia from the State field

  • select Hospitals from the Category field.

If you run your Search without any Date parameters you are going to get too many results and your results will include old data that you are not interested in. To narrow your results

  • select a specific Update Date

  • say 60 days ago

  • you save the Search because it gives you the results you want.

Now, a month goes by and you want to run this Saved Search again.

  • having selected 60 days ago in the Update Date Field gave you good results

  • run the Saved Search ‘as is’ in a month

  • your results will now be from 3 months ago

  • the 3 month results are too many

  • you want to see 60 days ago again

  • you would have to change the Date Field to reflect 60 days ago

  • you save your Search again to reflect the new Update Date

To avoid having to make these date changes, use the Update Date Range.

  • select Last 60 days from the Update Date Range

  • Save your Search.

Now, each time you run the Search you are going to always see results that are from 60 days ago. You can run your Search any time in the future and you will always be seeing results that reflect the Update Date of 60 days ago.

The same scenario is true for the Bid Dates

  • you want to see Projects bidding 14 days out

  • you enter 14 days from today in the max Bid Date field

  • you are pleased with the results and you Save the Search

Now a month goes by and you want to run this Saved Search again. Remember that the Saved Search includes a specific date that was 14 days out from the last time you ran the Search.

  • amend the Bid Date to 14 days from the new date you are running the Search

  • again you are pleased with the results

  • you Save the Search

To avoid having to make these date changes, use the Bid Date Range.

  • select Next 14 days

  • Save your Search

Now, no matter when you run this Saved Search your results are always going to reflect the next 14 days and you don’t have to remember to change the date field.

Hotlist Searches

It is particularly beneficial to use the Date Ranges for Hotlist Searches.

  • you run a Hotlist Search from the Home Page

  • your List View results come up

  • you do not see the layout on the Project Search page

Connect Date Ranges

When running a Hotlist Search from the Home Page you do not immediately have the opportunity to make changes to the parameters of your Search.

  • if you had used a specific date in your Search parameters

  • your List View results appear based on that date selected

  • to obtain the results you want you would have to select Modify Search

  • takes you back to the Project Search page

  • you would have to make the desired Date change

This defeats the purpose of the Hotlist Search which is to quickly get you to your List View results that match the parameters of the Search you put together. By using the Date Ranges you are assured to obtain current results.

Use the Date Ranges often to obtain the information desired and remember to use it when you want current information.
